A sincere thank you to all the hands that made today's annual Beginning of the Year Cookout possible! To our families, Early College Staff, Child Nutrition program and greater school family today was the first of many wonderful memories made within these school walls.
Today I saw upperclassmen connect with freshmen...I saw old friends pick up right where they left off....I saw big smiles and hearts full of joy...I heard an entire school body cheer for the class of 2027 and welcome our new Phoenix the class of 2030. I saw a school come together and clean up to the point you can barely tell a huge party just occurred.
If today is any indication of the year we have in store for us we're in pretty good shape! We hope everyone has a great, safe, restful weekend!

Happy Wednesday Phoenix Families! A few reminders as we prepare for tomorrow's first day of school. Attached you will find the DDCC/DCECHS Traffic Pattern for pick up and drop off. Our SRO and security personnel will assist in the morning/afternoon. Our greatest priority is the safety of your child. Doors open at 8am and students may not enter the building until that time. Breakfast will be available and 1st period will start promptly at 8:35am. OpenGate will be utilized each morning like year's past. Our day will end at 12 noon these first seven days. Remember elementary shuttles will run tomorrow through next Friday and that schedule can be found on this page and our Facebook page. Have a great evening and we will see you tomorrow morning!!

Lots of project-based learning at DCECHS today! From building German U-boats to designing and testing cars, our students have the opportunity to explore science and history in ways that allow them to flex their creative muscles!

Friday, April 3 is a teacher workday and DDCC is closed for the Easter Holiday so, no school!
Monday, April 6 the Early College will be closed for the Easter Holiday but DDCC is open. If you have college classes on Monday, April 6 you need to attend your college classes. If you do not have transportation, please email your college teachers as soon as possible to let them know and to get your assignments.
April 7-10 Elementary Shuttles will run AM and PM due to the traditional schools being on spring break. Please note the attached schedule for times.

Our Phoenix Freshmen were treated to a visit from Dr. Peter Schuck, a research astrophysicist for NASA at the Goddard Space Center. A big thank you to Mrs. Birch (science/math teacher) for setting this opportunity up for our students!
Prospective 26-27 Phoenix Freshmen, come out with your parents on Tuesday, February 17 from 5:30-6:30 to learn more about DCECHS during our annual Open House. You'll get a chance to meet teachers, ask questions, and tour our campus.

Warmer temperatures today allowed our teams to make good progress on ice removal, but additional time is still needed to ensure safe conditions.
Tomorrow, Thursday, January 29th, will be a remote learning day for students and a remote work day for staff. High school students who are dually enrolled at DDCC will also have a remote day. Please continue to check the DDCC website for the most up-to-date weather information.

Representatives from the Davie County Board of Elections will hold a voter registration drive during National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. The drive will be held from 9 am-12 pm in the Administration Building Lobby of the Davidson Davie Community College Campus.

2. College classes at DDCC start Monday, August 18th, so not only will our students be on campus but other DDCC students as well. Allow yourself extra time to combat any possible traffic you experience.
3. Upperclassmen, remember some of you may have a college class that starts at 8:00am. Be sure you are clear with your class schedules.
4. DCECHS Clubs will be starting soon!! Friday during seminar we will have an opportunity for students to learn about what clubs are available this year.
5. Permission slips for Biltmore, community service trips, etc. will go out next week.
6. We will still run shuttles AM and PM next week. Please review schedule on school webpage and Facebook.
7. High School classes run from 8:35am - 2:55pm students should not be picked up early unless an appointment requires it. Early pickups lead to missed instruction.
