APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1: Fill out the student application

DCECHS application window opens January 10, 2025 and applications due by Friday, March 7. Tell your School Counselor if you are interested. Applications and other requirements are available through our website.

STEP 2: You should receive an email confirmation with your application attached. If you do not receive email confirmation please contact Joey Davis at davisjo@davie.k12.nc.us as soon as possible. The last section of the google form will prompt you to provide the names of three teachers who will provide feedback as part of your application. This needs to be two core teachers (math, ELA, science, social studies) and one core/encore teacher. The purpose of this feedback form is to get first-hand information from teachers about your personal character, work ethic and academic ability in the classroom. This information will be used to help the committee make an informed decision on placement.

STEP 3: Teacher Feedback deadline: March 17, 2025

STEP 4: Committee Meetings (follow-up with middle schools) and Student Placement Decisions: March 17-28

Step 5: DCECHS Final invitations will be sent out by April 7, 2025

STEP 6: Student acceptance or decline of placement: Final date to accept or reject offer to attend is May 1, 2025.

Freshman Orientation for students and parents will be on Thursday, May 15 from 5:30 - 6:30 at the Early College. More details about this event will be sent students, parents, and schools in late April.

The Gantt Building

This the front office and reception area. Students enter the building and sign in here, and parents can speak to the administrative assistant behind the glass enclosure.

This is our multipurpose room. Ms. Griffey holds English class meetings here. A seminar course also meets here, as well as learning lab. We also hold whole-school meetings or town hall meetings here.

This is our high school science classroom. Students perform science labs and attend class here.

DDCC

This is the largest classroom in on the Davie campus. Colleges classes and special presentations take place here.

This is the fitness center, where PED classes take place.

This is a newly renovated smart classroom in the Health and Technology Building.

This is the Media Center in the Community Building. Early College students receive a college id and library card, and have full use of campus resources.

Who We Are

The Early College is...

a partnership between Davie County Schools and Davidson County Community College, located on the community college campus in Mocksville.
an independent high school offering a 4, 4½, or 5 year plan of study that allows students to graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate in Arts degree or up to two years of transferable college credit.
an accelerated learning environment with a rigorous honors and college-level curriculum that prepares students for college, careers, and life.
a small, public school (~40 students per grade level), part of the Cooperative and Innovative High School network.
